Color Can Raise The Dead T-Shirts
‘COLOR CAN RAISE THE DEAD.’ Originally a type painting I made several years ago, inspired by a quote from Iris Apfel, and is now a T-shirt. The shirt was designed for Vinny Eng, the Grand Marshal for the 2022 San Francisco Gay Pride Parade. When Vinny (a powerhouse activist and community builder) suggested the collaboration; he was drawn to the words, which we both saw in a cultural context. A quiet refrain to stand apart with proactive agency, which the gay community continues to do. I see that (and always have) as only a good and powerful thing.
We printed a limited edition specifically for Vinny’s San Francisco contingent of marchers, but due to popular demand, we are releasing a second edition run for my studio’s online shop.
Vinny and I were corresponding earlier today and he said the most wonderful thing: “My heart is so full knowing that the people who have kept me alive these many years will be wearing this piece of our friendship and collaboration .” That sounded like #pride.
Shirts are estimated to start shipping August 5th.
